New OHIP Coverage for Eye Examinations:

As of November 1, 2004 your OHIP coverage for full eye examinations has been changed.

Children (aged 0-19 years):
One full eye examination yearly (unchanged)

Adults (aged 20-64 years):
Will no longer be covered by OHIP

Seniors (aged 65 and above):
One full eye examination yearly (unchanged)

Coverage for medical necessity has been announced. Under some circumstances, people with diabetes, cataracts, glaucoma, amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (turned eye), visual field defects, retinal disease and corneal disease will be covered. Some common ocular problems like eye infections may not be covered. Your Optometrist will be able to determine eligibility for OHIP coverage after your examination.

The fee for a complete eye examination depends on the length of time since you were last into our office, if you have been in before, or the services you require. Please contact our office for our current fee schedule. Fees for examinations are payable at the time of service. We are happy to accept cash, Visa, Mastercard or debit.

Please note that there is a $25 administration fee for missed appointments, or appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.
